Computer Woes

I have written quite a few posts in my mind and at least one in my notebook. Unfortunately none of them have made it to the blog because of computer woes.

Farm life is too full to stop and figure out the problem, so please be patient! Hopefully you will hear more about rosebushes and transparency and weeds and new geese very soon!

Will trade farm stuff for computer help!

If you'll e-mail me with your problem, I'll give it a shot ... I have a Mac, but I use Windows at work ....

We have Macs. Part of our problem is that I neglected to update our credit card info and deleted all the reminders from our email server to pay our annual fees. Oops. I am so used to deleting junk mail. So now when I try to update and resubscribe to our email server, our computer is old and needs to be updated to handle the new version and when I tried to do that it sort of shut down our computer. So I have been kind of ignoring the problem. Since I am out of town for a couple of days I am hoping for margin to work on the problem! I miss blogging!!!

Well, you lost me ... I have a Mac, but my blog is hosted on a server in Texas - I have WordPress installed on that server. And my Internet access is through AT&T. I did a little research and it seems as though the domain "mac.com" doesn't exist any longer - it is now "me.com". It requires 10.4.11 or 10.5, according to the website. If you are using a version of OSX that is 10.3.x (or earlier), it appears that you are out of luck. Until you upgrade, which is a time-consuming and expensive process. I hate it when that happens!!

If I'm guessing right, your problem is why I don't go with proprietary "solutions" - they've got you by the short hairs and force you to upgrade by pulling stunts like this. Now, because you have an "old" OS (by their definition), you no longer have access to the Internet, e-mail, etc., etc. What a bummer!!!

The way I see it, your only option is to use a friend's Windows (or Mac) computer so you can access the web to get to Blogger, which is probably what you are doing. But no e-mail until you get the OS upgraded. There is a lesson here somewhere ... something about putting all of one's eggs in one basket.... I'm real sorry to learn that you are in this situation. I hope you can resolve your problems soon!!
