I think your friend can grow peaches in NC, but as in anywhere, Jeff, recommend that he find some nice, older local who knows someone with a peach tree, or talk to a good nursery that could recommend the right variety for his area. Here in VA, Edible Landscaping is the place to go, in Afton.

Beth and Anita, we are so lucky. I think that the variety of peach we have is an early one. Also it is planted next to the concrete milking parlor and the white cinder blocks capture some heat and light that seem to push it up a week or so. The peaches we have are a peachy skin, creamy white flesh peach. Absolutely delicious and very perishable. Not great for market. I LOVE peach cobbler, too, but have to say my favorite peach incarnation is a glass of mashed up fresh peaches topped with Blenheim ginger ale. The very spicy stuff. Need to get some and blog about it... My mouth is watering as I type!gingerhillery@mac.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11058818226976530765noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6739655481104184892.post-65327491494556111752009-06-22T06:14:47.016-05:002009-06-22T06:14:47.016-05:00You are lucky---our peaches won't be ripe for ...You are lucky---our peaches won't be ripe for another month or so. My favorite peach experience involves cobbler warm from the oven with a dollop of vanilla ice cream melting on top.Bethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12575140898505901920noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6739655481104184892.post-19569715465408701192009-06-21T13:16:46.971-05:002009-06-21T13:16:46.971-05:00Isn't it a little early for peaches? I said I didn't know. But now, since they grow in Virginia, I can tell him that they most certainly grow in NC! I don't think there is anything better than fruit fresh from the tree ...Jeffhttp://turningpoints.iomaire.comnoreply@blogger.com
